When a shower is fed from a larger run, a half inch mixer is the wrong tool: the pressure drop across a long pipework makes the valve work harder and leaves the outlet less steady. This wall mounted thermostatic mixer takes three quarter inch connections for that case, and its visible parts are AISI 316L stainless steel, a molybdenum bearing grade that tolerates humid, coastal and high turnover environments. The thermostatic element holds the selected temperature while the larger flow runs.
The pipe centres must be set at first fix, because the larger connection will not suit the centres left by a half inch installation and changing them after tiling is the costly way to correct a mistake. Fix the body at a height the users can reach, then run the shower before the trim goes on so any fault is found while the wall is still accessible. Pair it with the three quarter inch shut-off valve for a matched run.
