Where the pipework is buried in a wall, a handset still needs somewhere to sit, and a deck mounted hand shower support is what provides it: a fitting that comes up through the tub rim or the tiled edge of a basin and holds the handset within reach. It keeps the hose short and the handset at hand instead of trailing from a rail. The fitting is AISI 316L stainless steel, the marine grade, chosen for a spot that is permanently wet and constantly handled.
This is a through-deck fitting, so drill the hole through the ceramic or the tiled edge and check the tail will reach the supply or the hose before the surface is sealed. Fit it before the bath or basin is finally placed, and order the finish to match the mixer, spout and rail it works with.
