Hanging the spout off the wall takes the tap out of the basin entirely, so the surface below is a single uninterrupted piece of ceramic or stone. That is the reason a specifier chooses a wall spout for a statement basin: nothing interrupts the material, and the water appears to come from the wall itself. This one is finished in AISI 316L stainless steel, the grade that tolerates constant moisture and, with its molybdenum content, chloride from cleaning products and coastal air without staining the surround.
The spout is fed from the wall itself, so the installer sets the plaster or tile first and the fitting follows, keeping the run of pipe hidden and the joints accessible. Its 316L stainless steel body will not discolour the way plated fittings can in a permanently damp room, which matters in hotel and rental bathrooms.
