Servicing a shower should not mean turning the water off for the whole floor. A shut off valve gives you that control: isolate one run, work on it, and put it back into service while everything else keeps running. This wall mounted valve has a half inch connection, the size most UK shower pipework is already built around, and a body in AISI 316L stainless steel, so the part handled on every maintenance visit is solid metal rather than a plated shell in a permanently damp void.
It is fitted at first fix into the pipe run, upstream of whatever it will isolate, so the position is decided before the tiling is closed. Set it where a maintenance engineer can reach it without removing fixtures, and confirm the isolation holds before the wall is finished. Specifying the finish alongside the thermostatic mixer keeps the visible valve and the control reading as one set.
